Fashion Pakistan Week goes young for a cause

KARACHI: With mostly bridal wear on the ramp, the last day of the Winter Festive 2016 by the pioneering Fashion Pakistan Week was all about mentoring the young and upcoming in addition to supporting a cause.

Out of the usual stars and celebs walking the ramp, Mukhtaran Mai's walk for fashion week first timer Rozina Munib was the highlight of the night. The gang rape survivor and activist who now runs a sanctuary cum shelter for women and children said her presence in the show was only for them.

Day 3 opened with an incredibly versatile and strong collection by Nida Azwer called Alankara. Experimenting   intricately worked trench coats, shorter structured jackets, tops and high-waisted gharara's, the IVS graduate staying true to her signature style once again made an impression reviving traditional craft in a contemporary narrative.

Followed by relatively emerging or completely new names the line-up this time is all about promoting the young according to the seasoned designer Shamaeel Ansari who is also one of the founding members of the council.

Designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin as the choreographer of the three-day Winter festive, says in an attempt to separate fashion from entertainment the focus of presentation this time around has been more on the clothes and new lines created for the ramp.

Focusing on new and all things bridal Fashion Pakistan Week Winter Festive 2016 ended with a Mughal-inspired collection called 'Pukaar' on November 1st.
