KARACHI: Blending art, craft and the subcontinent's glorious past, the latest offering by Koel Art Gallery is an exquisite jewellery collection by Ahmad Haroon.
Enthralled by the aesthetics and artistry of Mughal heritage, Haroon has been recreating and replicating extraordinary masterpieces once worn by the royalty of subcontinent for last fifteen years.
On view in the gallery, his current collection is an ode to the princely state of Hyderabad Deccan during Nizam Rule.
Made in silver with polki, kundan, diamond and semi-precious stones by the artisans of Indo-Pak subcontinent, Haroon says the collection created takes its inspiration from the museum pieces of that era.
Spanning hundreds of years the splendour of the Sub-Continental Royalty has been a passion for all his creations according to Haroon, who believes the riches of this region and its heritage has been an inspiration for the rest of the world especially west.
Titled, the contemporary Raj this collection will remain on display until November 12th.
