The two-person show by Ocean Art gallery aims to foster a new appreciation for an age-old art form and medium of expression rarely used or seen these days.
To reveal watercolour's distinctive qualities Dr M Ali Bhatti has painted portraits of men and women of all ages from rural areas. An accomplished portraiture artist and a professor, Bhatti highlights his decades of experience in painting expressions varying from joyous to melancholic both in black white as well as colour.
A Q Arif, on the other hand, explores the beauty of watercolour through his dreamy landscapes. Other than historical architecture like palaces, gardens, forts, mansions, shrines and buildings from Mughal and colonial era, his landscape consists of both real and imagined.
Painting mostly on location the scenic beauty of northern areas in his current body of work is based on the photographs he took during a visit according to Arif. The Karachi-based artist says the works on display give an insight into the richness and challenges of a sensitive medium seldom seen and a must-see specially for students.
This show by Ocean Art gallery is to continue till November 11th.
