Two make one — a multi-disciplinary collaboration by 22 creatives

 Titled 'Excerpts' latest show by Koel Art gallery is a creative collision of sorts where art professionals of varying disciplines pair up, challenge and reassess their familiar modes of expression to create works that are new and novel.

The collaborative effort by the alumni of Karachi's Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture brings together 22 fine artists, architects, graphic designers and textile designers to create works inspired by existing pieces of writing. Communicating and negotiating with challenges of one another's individual style, medium and discipline each pair has produced 11 artistic surfaces of various kinds.

A practicing architect and participant of the show Abdul Fateh Saif is also an integral part of the young team behind this initiative. Talking about the initiative Fateh explains a break from the norm and ritualistic constraints of routine the project is their way of going back to thinking out of the box to create which was once a critical part of the academic life as a student.

A brainchild of five working professionals from the Indus Valley School the initiative under the title of Mandarjazail Collaborative plans to include creatives from other art schools after this first exhibition according to Shahzaib Arif Shaikh. One of the founding members of the collaborative Shiekh is also a practicing architect.

The show will continue till November 25th.
