Salman Khan To Launch A Chain Of Theatres

While we're on the subject of Bollywood, Salman Khan, India's numero uno box office star has an ace up his sleeve. According to multiple reports, Khan is playing around with the idea of launching "a chain of private single screen theatres called `Salman Talkies'. The tickets will be cheaper and the project will allow people to access quality cinema.

Multiple reports suggest that Khan is chalking out a business plan these days. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Khan "will be lending his name to a theatre chain to promote tax-free viewing."

"Tickets for films at his theatres will be available at heavily subsidised rates and will be free for children. Salman will be launching each screen himself," the source added.

If things go as planned, Salman Talkies will enter the race in Maharashtra with Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn-starrer Shivaay. Salman is also hoping to expand his theatre chain to Uttar Pradesh by early 2017.

Salman's Being Human Foundation spokesperson, explaining the motto behind the six-screen chain of theatres, said: "If his film has to hit a double hundred, he wants to do it with Rs 100 tickets. If we can't touch that figure with this plan, we will try again with another film but Salman strongly believes that ticket prices should be brought down."
