Is Pakistani actor Fawad Khan being replaced in 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' by Karan Johar?

According to Indian media reports, Karan Johar is planning on replacing Fawad's face in the movie with that of Saif Ali Khan. It is also being reported that the on-screen nationalities of Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachan may also be changed in the film.

The decision to make the change comes as pressure by extremist groups has been building in India to not allow Pakistani actors to work in Bollywood. 

In the wake of the Uri attack, Indian extremist party Maharashtra Navinrman Sena (MNS) asked Pakistani artists to leave Indian within 48 hours. Following this, the Indian Motion Producers Pictures Association (IMPPA) also placed a ban on Pakistani actors and crew working in Bollywood.

Reports in the Indian media state the idea of using face swapping technology was considered by Karan Johar who will also toying with the idea of tweaking the story.

Earlier on Monday it was reported that Mahira Khan had been dropped from the upcoming Bollywood movie 'Raees' amidst the growing political tension between Pakistan and India.

The actress, who had been cast as the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the film, has been removed according to the Indian media. A source close to the film revealed that despite trying to work out the situation, there was no other way for the director to release his film unless Mahira was removed and thus the decision has been taken.
