KARACHI: Three-day event promising a mix of renowned and upcoming designers, kicks off in Karachi, celebrating the festivities of autumn/winter be it weddings, charity balls or formal dinners and parties.
Held biannually since 2010 by the pioneering fashion Pakistan Council the winter edition this year opened with men's wear veteran Amir Adnan's line the 'The way forward'. A blend of east and west fusing casual with formal, the minimalist look according to Adnan is for the modern man on the go.
With Black and gold mostly reigning the runway the first-day lineup included the likes of Maheen Karim, Sobia Nazir and couple of emerging names. A fashion legend with a prolific career spanning decades Maheen Khan who is also one of the directors of the fashion council says the focus this time is more on promoting the new talent and providing them a platform.
The current Chairperson of the Council , Designer Deepak Perwani, on the other hand, talks about how the biannual events continue to prompt and regulate designer fraternity to create something new meeting deadlines season to season.
A total of eight ramp shows the first day of the fashion week, ended with Hassan Sheheryar Yasin's mostly black luxury prĂȘt collection called Onyx.
Showcasing the autumn/winter collection of over 20 designers from all over the country the three-day FPW Winter Festive 2016 starting from the 30th October will end on November 1st at a local hotel in Karachi.
