Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan was recently in the news for holding a copy of the Holy Quran in her hand. This time she was in the news for posting a picture on Instagram wearing a headscarf—a gift she said was from an aid worker at a Syrian refugee camp.
Last week Lindsay was in Turkey to visit a Syrian refugee camp where from her several posts one could gather she was very touched.
"I met a wonderful aid worker (Azize) at The Refugee Camp in Antep. She saw that my eyes lit up when I told her that her headscarf is beautiful. She waved to me and said, come with me, I followed her and she gifted it to me. I was so moved and touched by this that I wanted to wear it in appreciation for all of the generosity and love I received from everyone at the camp," she wrote with the picture she took donning a headscarf.
She met lots of other people. Like the Hussein family who had migrated from Aleppo, the worst hit area in the Syrian conflict. "The father, Mohammad, was injured severely in Aleppo and his wife left him and her three kids after they migrated to Turkey. The lovely girl is Heya (9) and her twin brother is Leys. The Sultanbeyli Municipality is covering their rent and kitchen expenses but the conditions of the house are very bad. The older brother was not in the house with us because although he is 17, he had to work in order to take better care of his family."
In her posts she called for the world community to do their part to solve the Syrian conflict. "We should do more, starting today," she said.
In one of her posts she wrote "Inshallah. Pray" along with a Turkish flag.
In April, 2016, it was reported that Lohan is studying Islam after she was spotted carrying a copy of the Quran. Later Lohan confirmed the reports herself. Since the early 2000s Lohan has been battling drug abuse.
The Hollywood heartthrob who started out as child star in Parent Trap had a successful career with hit movies like Mean Girls and Freaky Friday.
