World-famed American singer-songwriter Madonna on Tuesday proudly narrated Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy's latest venture, a film on late Pakistani social media starlet, Qandeel Baloch.
"Proud to narrate my friend Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy's latest film about Qandeel Baloch, the Pakistani social media star, who was murdered by her brother in an 'honor killing,'" Madonna wrote in a Facebook post.
She lauded the Pakistani government for closing a legal loophole that has long been exploited by culprits in the country to escape punishment after having murdered a loved one in the name of 'honour'.
"The Pakistan government finally just passed the anti-honour killing bill, closing the loophole that allowed killers to walk free," she said. "So good to see positive change happen in the world."
The renowned singer also expressed sorrow, saying 'too bad Qandeel and so many others had to die first'.
