Netflix to spend $6 billion on new TV shows

Streaming giant Netflix has promised to spend $6 billion on new shows. For the 370,000 new users in the US and over 3.2 million that have signed up to the service globally over the last three months the streaming service is planning to deliver 1000 hours of new content.

At present Netflix has not been making a lot of money, but it seems injecting billions of dollars into new shows might just be what is needed to reel in fresh subscribers.

Netflix Founder Reed Hastings was quoted in the media to have said, "with more revenue, we can reinvest to further improve Netflix to attract new members from around the world, while continuing to delight our existing customers".

We reported earlier that Netflix is planning on launching 'download-and-go' soon which will allow users to download content on their devices to watch later, when out of coverage area.

The offline feature will allow users to watch their favourite shows while commuting.
