KARACHI: Enticing and exciting, the latest show curated by renowned artist and art critic Asim Akhtar features works of two very talented recent graduates from National College of Arts, Pindi Campus.
With a major in sculpture, Jibran Shahid's keen interest and inspiration to draw horses can be seen in the hybrid form taking centre stage in most of his art. The deliberately exaggerated and fabricated part human part horse imagery, according to the young artist explores the idea of a horse as an icon of civilization, befriended and exploited by man.
On the other hand, a dreamlike environment created in the series of drawings by Usman Khalid comes from musical inspiration. Trained in miniature, Khalid uses charcoal, pastel, and ink on paper to explore his fascination with the being of bodies in particular spaces.
This show by Sanat Gallery, Karachi will continue till October 28.
