Authorities in Mumbai have gotten serious about preventing Dengue. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has caught on the Dengue virus. Her neighbours including actor Shahid Kapoor have been served a notice for failing to take protective measure to prevent breeding of the Dengue mosquito, the Times of India reported.
When authorities investigated they found mosquitoes breeding in Shahid's unused swimming pool. The dengue mosquito breeds in stagnant, fresh water bodies.
Shahid lives two floors below Vidya, in Mumbai's Juhu area.
Another neighbor who lives on the third floor was also served a notice.
The notice attracts a fine of upto Rs10,000 Indian rupees.
Mumbai is fighting a wave of Dengue, with 1500 people brought to hospitals with the virus this month.
