The hype Bollywood movie Baar Baar Dekho made with its song Kaala Chasma fizzled out as it did not do well in the box office. Its lead actor Sidharth Malhotra, who made his debut with Student of the Years, accepted defeat.
"Maybe we failed but at least we tried something new," Malhotra noted in a recent interview with The Quint. "Now I know if I meet a first-time director I'll be wary. Or if I write a script I'll be thinking anxiously about whether it works for me as a member of the audience."
Baar Baar Dekho was one of the highly anticipated films of the year given the star cast as well as an intriguing trailer that had everyone hooked. Unfortunately, for the producers, the film witnessed a low at the box office after the opening weekend.
Commenting on the film's failure, Malhotra maintained that if the film had worked better, he might not have been so careful with the modalities of making a film. "I am still going to choose only those scripts that I believe in," he asserted. "I stand by my choices. If I like a script and a role it doesn't matter how many other actors are there or how many scenes I have. All the films that I've done so far tell stories that I want to tell."
