'Aasman Se Gira' - Urdu adaption of Ken Ludwig’s Broadway hit begins at Napa

'Aasman Se Gira', the latest offering by the National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa), is an adaptation of the American playwright's 1st Broadway play 'Lend Me A Tenor'.

Touted one of the two great farces by a living writer, the original comedy is about an event manager who replaces an unconscious opera tenor with a young artist just before a big performance. Attempting to create the similar chaos, confusion and improbable situation as seen in the original play the localized version revolves around a pop star playing folk one instead of the opera singer.

The play has been adapted by Babar Jamal and directed by the academy's faculty member Uzma Sabeen.

After adaption in sixteen languages and production in over twenty countries, the play according to Sabeen is being performed here for the very first time and stars Napa's homegrown actors.

The play will be staged 08:00pm daily from September 23 to October 02 at the academy's auditorium with Geo/Jang group as the official media partner.
