KARACHI: The one-day event held over the weekend at a local hotel in Karachi, is the flagship event of the Tehzeeb foundation of Pakistan.
Since its inception in 2009, the festival is one of the essential endeavours by the nonprofit organisation working to promote, preserve and foster music and fine arts of the country.
Similar to its previous editions, the festivities this year also includes an art exhibition, literary readings in addition to poetry, and music recitals.
Speaking on the occasion, the general secretary of the foundation Sharif Awan says the festival this year also celebrates the success and recognition of its Indus Raag Project internationally.
Produced by Awan the music project after being honoured with a gold and silver Global music award and becoming Pakistan's first indigenous entry to get shortlisted for the Grammys has also been nominated for the Independent Music Award earlier this year.
Showcasing the best in traditional music and its upcoming talent, the live sessions throughout the evening highlighted established as well as emerging young artists.
The 7th Tehzeeb Festival, featuring a celebration of music, fine art and literature, also included an award ceremony.
