Jahan Ara, who shot to fame from her memorable character Bil Batori in the evergreen drama serial from our childhood days 'Ainak Wala Jin', has been forced to live a life of sheer distress and misery these days.
In an interview with Geo News, the actress who was everyone's favourite due to her portrayal of a witch in the television series, revealed that her life was a constant struggle.
Ara, who now suffers from a skin infection, lives in a small room for which she pays Rs6,000 as rent. She lamented that nobody from the government ever contacted her once the show ended.
She said that her colleagues also did not do much to help alleviate her living conditions. Ara said that she has to try very hard to make both ends meet.
"I went to Data Darbar and used to live off rice from there," she revealed.
"When I used to ask people for work after the show ended, they used to say that there's no work for you," she said, adding that people said to her that her role as Bil Batori was the best thing in her career and that's the end of it.
Ara said that famous personalities such as Imran Khan and Bilawal Bhutto invited her for performances, but gradually everyone forgot about her existence.
"Artists are a national asset and government along with artist fraternity should look after them," said Jahan Ara.
Ainak Wala Jin was a famous show on Pakistan Television, which aired during the 90s.
