Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan met with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai to discuss about his upcoming movie Raees, which also stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, Indian media reported on Monday.
After the meeting, Thackeray reportedly said that it stands clear that the movie will not be promoted by Pakistani actors.
No Pakistani nationals will come to India for film promotions and no actor from Pakistan will be hired till the situation between the two countries improves, was the outcome of the meeting according to the MNS chief.
A few days ago, the trailer of Raees was released which featured Mahira Khan for a considerable amount of time. Earlier there were rumours that Mahira's scenes would be deleted from Raees or she would be replaced by some other actress.
Indian movie Director Karan Johar also faced a lot of difficulty regarding release of his movie 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', which stars Pakistani hearthrob Fawad Khan.
Earlier, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists had threatened to vandalise cinemas which would show the movie.
The uproar by the MNS subsided after reaching a settlement with Karan Johar and Producers' Guild. To settle matters and ensure a smooth release of the film, Johar had agreed to add a part in the film paying tribute to the dead soldiers of the Uri Attack, and donating Rs 50 million to Indian Army fund.
