KARACHI: Authors, writers, educators, politicians, and journalists along with people from all walks of life gathered to attend Sindh Literature Festival 2017.
The three-day festival, which includes panel discussions on a myriad of topics, book fair and sale of Sindh's handicrafts, seeks to provide people a glimpse of Sindh's rich past as well as pave way for future.
The festival, being held at Beach Luxury Hotel, provides a platform to budding Sindhi artistes to showcase their talent as well as promote Sindhi language, culture, and heritage.
Some of the prominent speakers and literati attending the festival include Arif Hassan, Pervez Hoodbhoy, Dr Fouzia Saeed, Amar Sindhu, Jibran Nasir, Hamid Mir, Azhar Abbas, AD Khawaja, Mian Raza Rabbani, Amar Jaleel.
On Saturday, many diverse and interesting sessions were held on topics such as "Sindhi Women and Men: Need of a new Social Contract", "Culture and Anarchy", "Maai Kolachi Waaro Karachi", "Orphan Literature of Mother Tongues in Pakistan", "Post Partition Sindhi Literature", "Sur Jo Safar Aeen Sindh", "Shukriya Social Media", "Kya Media Ko Aesa Hi Hona Chahye", among others.
On Sunday, three books will be launched; Candle in the Wind: Remembering Sabeen Mahmud, Je Mu Ghaariyam Thar Men, Forty Rules of Love (Sindhi translation).
Moreover, sessions relating to "feminism and democracy", "Sindhi Stories", "Zara Hat Kay", "Sindh Dramo: Kaalh Aeen Aj", "Journey of Sindhi Language," "Role of Sindh in Democracy of Pakistan" "Journey of Travelogue Writers" will be held on the last day.
The festival will conclude with a mushaira session, which will be presided over by Imdad Hussani, and musical event, in which Sanam Marvi, Ustad Abdul Gafoor and Ghulan Ali Samon will perform.
