OSLO: Paintings by a Norwegian artist depicting the landscape of Pakistan were put on display in Oslo for an exhibition, the proceeds from which will be used to build a school in Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan's Ambassador to Norway Riffat Masood appreciated artwork of the Norwegian painter, Tore Hogstvedt.
The visitors at the exhibition belonged to different walks of life, including foreign diplomats based in Oslo.
The president of Norwegian-Pakistani organisation Dosti, Syed Tariq Shah, who was also present at the exhibition, said paintings of the Norwegian artist highlight the beauty of Pakistan and promote a positive message from the country for the rest of the world.
Opening of the exhibition was followed by a qawwali performance by Hamza Group.
The three-day event was arranged by The Citizens Foundation Norway in collaboration with Pakistan's embassy in Oslo. TCF Director Nilofer Saeed was also present for the event.
So far TCF Norway — established in 2015 — has collected 60% of the funds needed to complete work on the school in Pakistan. It is under construction and will be ready for classes by April 2018.
