ISLAMABAD: It was 17 years ago that Pakistan lost renowned qawwal Aziz Mian. His unique ability to sing ghazals in the style of qawwali set him apart from other singers.
For his contribution to the field of music, the government had awarded him the Pride of Performance award in 1989. Aziz Mian was born as Abdul Aziz in Delhi, in then British India.
The work of Aziz Mian, along with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Amjad Sabri, is an inspiration for young singers.
Aziz was different from his counterparts, as he was talented, educated and introduced his own style.
Each of his song was different from the other and his work was enriched with spiritualism.
Wherever he performed, the audience remained captivated and everyone appreciated his performance.
The void left by the qawwali maestro's death is hard to be filled.
