Pakistan's cinema darling Mahira Khan took to Twitter Friday evening to share the first official look of her upcoming movie Verna.
Mahira — who made her Bollywood debut alongside the 'King of Romance' Shah Rukh Khan in Raees (2017) — will be starring as one of the lead characters in the Shoaib Mansoor-directed film.
Verna, therefore, will be the actress' second time working with Mansoor, after having played a role in his 2011 movie Bol, which is counted amongst her first-ever works.
Asked about getting the role, Mahira said Mansoor called her exactly "like he had called me five years ago" to ask if she would "be interested in working with him" again, one of the leading local media outlets reported.
As for what the flick is about, she said, "It's a film tackling a certain social issue... [so I'm] taking it up as a challenge," the publication added.
According to another outlet, Mahira noted she "was nervous but I was carefree, enjoying my time on [Bol's] set with the kids who played my brother and sisters".
"I don't think I'll have it that easy this time!"
Mahira's latest project, which is set to hit cinemas around Pakistan in November this year, includes stars such as Rasheed Naz and Zarrar Khan.
Moreover, Haroon Shahid — a musician seen often on Coke Studio — will also make his cinema debut in Verna.
Among Mahira's other ongoing projects in the industry is Maula Jatt 2, where her co-actors will be Fawad Khan, Shamoon Abbasi, Humaima Malik, and Hamza Ali Abbasi.
The star maintains an active social media presence and often has Q&A sessions with her fans under the #AskMahira hashtag.
