Jon Stewart, longtime host of the satirical TV news program "The Daily Show," said he will step down from the post when his contract expires later this year, reported AlJazeera.
Confirming the news of Stewart's retirement, Comedy Central President Michele Ganeless said, "for the better part of the last two decades, I have had the incredible honor and privilege of working with Jon Stewart."
The 53-year-old dissects politics, journalism and entertainment, that skewers politicians, the ways of the world in general and sensationalist cable news coverage in particular.
Retiring at the end of this year, Stewart recently directed a Hollywood movie "Rosewater".
