Faryal Makhdoom had tried to patch things up with husband Amir Khan hours after the two took their fight to Twitter, with the British-Pakistani boxer accusing Makhdoom of cheating, the Daily Mail reported, citing a source.
The British newspaper cited a friend saying that Makhdoom's family contacted Khan's family to encourage both of them to patch things up in the interest of their two-year-old daughter Lamaisah, while Makhdoom also reached out to Khan in Dubai.
She suggested that the two say that their Twitter accounts had been hacked to answer media's questions about their spat.
Khan, however, was in no mood to resolve the feud and posted a Snapchat video rebutting rumours of hacking and said they were splitting. He then also divorced her via a text message, the source said.
The two yesterday announced to end their marriage through explosive attacks on Twitter – accusing each other of cheating, lying, being unfaithful and greedy.
Khan, who is worth around £25million, claimed his wife had an affair with heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. He not only accused Makhdoom of being desperate to move on, the boxer also alleged that she openly talked about being with another man and that she was a "gold-digger".
Makhdoom, 26, hit back claiming her husband was lying and he was a "cheater". Khan uploaded screenshots of an alleged conversation between his wife and Joshua.
